Muker is located in upper Swaledale which is the most northern of the Yorkshire Dales. It is about 45 minutes drive from both the A1 (M) and the M6 and is approximately 1.5 hours drive from Leeds to the south and Newcastle to the north.
The nearest train station is Garsdale on the historic and beautiful Settle-Carlisle railway. See Settle-Carlisle web page for details of this service. Alternative routes are available from Northallerton which is on the main East coast line.
It is served by a community bus service, the Little White Bus, from Richmond, its nearby market town. See Swaledale Shuttle page of Little White bus website for details of the bus timetable. There is also a Little White Bus connecting service between Hardraw and Garsdale station.
